Giấy nhôm thường dùng để gói đồ ăn, nhưng nhiều người dùng nó không đúng cách. Thật vậy, thường thường người ta để đồ ăn trên bề nhám để khi gói lại thì bề láng chói nằm ra bên ngoài, coi có vẻ đẹp.
Nhưng cái bề mặt an toàn là cái bề láng chói sáng, bởi vì bề đó có một lớp láng ngăn không cho đồ ăn tiếp xúc trực tiếp với nhôm, vốn là một chất độc.
Khi dùng giấy nhôm đề gói đồ ăn, thìphải để đồ ăn trên bề mặt láng , nếu để ngược lại, tức là để đồ ăn lên mặt nhám, không láng, thì nhôm sẽ có phản ứng và gây ô nhiễm cho thức ăn.
